I don't think this move is going to pan out for Brett. He's stepping into a system that was not designed for him. I don't think that Thomas Jones will provide enough of a running game to give him any space. I see lots of INTs this year!
I am astounded that the Cardinals didn't add another back Other than a 5th rounder (Tim Hightower). James is old and slow, and dances more than Ken Whisenhunt would like. I imagine that 2008 will be Edge's last year with the Cardinals and I do not expect it to be a good one.
Lewis is not a young back, and I think many are expecting him to repeat last year's production. He has two reconstructed knees, can't run over defenders like he used to, and certainly won't be winning any footraces.
Jennings has been helped by the fact that he has had the gunslinging Brett Favre tossing him the rock for the first couple years of his career. However, with Favre departed for the Big Apple, Jennings will have to "overcome" the inexperience of a young Aaron Rodgers. I hope you stat hawks out there, aren't trying to extrapolate Jennings' third year numbers. That logical progression may not work out here.
Ahman Green will have a hard time staying healthy again this year. If you can get both of these guys on your roster this year, do it. Alex Gibbs has installed the zone blocking scheme that made Atlanta's rushing attack some of the best in the NFL during his tenure there. Steve Slaton was practically hand picked by Gibbs to be the bellcow back for the Texans so I expect him to get the workload at some point this year.
I have been against drafting this guy for the past 2 years because of his so called, " bone on bone knee problem". He has done pretty good considering. Am I crazy not to draft him in 6th position if he is available????
Ok, the Favre thing is a circus. But I have to admit that I can get a little bit wrapped up in it when I start thinking about what he might mean to the Jets' running game, specifically Thomas Jones. Favre has a cannon arm and even though he's an old man, I doubt there's a safety in the league who doesn't respect his deep ball. Teams won't be able to cheat up to stop the run, and Jones may find that his gaps aren't being plugged as quickly as they have been in the past. And, oh yeah, Alan Faneca helps too.
1) Shockey moves from a conservative Tom Coughlin offense which required that he do a lot of blocking to a pass minded Sean Payton offense led by a Pro Bowl QB where he should flourish as a receiver. He could very easily catch 85-90 balls(if he can stay on the field.) And my guess is that he won't be valued like that in upcoming fantasy drafts.
2) He leaves the Giants thin thin thin at tight end. Kevin Boss, you say? The man has 9 career regular season receptions. Have fun counting on him.
